Project Overview
The Coryton Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, located at The Manorway, Corringham, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 9LW, is a significant development by Root-Power. With a capacity of 11MW and 22MWh, the project is set to store and release energy as needed. The location was carefully selected due to its close proximity to the Coryton Substation, allowing for a straightforward and cost-effective grid connection. Scheduled for energisation in late 2024, the facility will have the capacity to supply power to around 22,000 homes, contributing to energy resilience in the area.
PRE APPLICATION
Strategically located 11MW energy project set to power 22,000 homes by late 2024
Root-Power developed the Coryton project between late 2022 and mid-2023.
The location was selected based on its close proximity to Coryton Substation, offering a cost-effective and straightforward grid connection. The 11MW capacity was chosen to fully utilise the existing infrastructure, avoiding costly network reinforcements.
