Project Overview
Osgodby BESS, located at Selby, North Yorkshire, YO8 6PG, is a large-scale project with a 40MW capacity and 80MWh of storage, sufficient to power 80,000 homes for two hours.
Root-Power conducted a thorough site selection process to ensure our new project is placed in a discreet location that minimises the visual impact on local residents, while remaining conveniently close to the point of connection (POC) at Osgodby GSP. Through careful evaluations of landscape and infrastructure, we identified a position that benefits from natural screening and is set back from populated areas. This allows us to stay aligned with our commitment to environmental sensitivity and community well-being, all while making certain the project remains as unobtrusive as possible.

The development of the Osgodby project began in June 2024.
This project will deliver 80MWh of energy storage, enough to power 80,000 homes.
Root-Power is collaborating closely with highways authorities to upgrade local road infrastructure as part of our development plan. These enhancements are designed to support efficient transport and improve long-term safety for everyone in the surrounding region. Throughout this process, great care is being taken to protect any trees that may be affected by the necessary changes, with qualified specialists assessing and implementing appropriate measures to preserve local biodiversity. Root-Power remains dedicated to ensuring that our projects not only contribute clean energy solutions but also reflect our continued respect for the environment and our neighbours.
